Buttock Fat Injection is a Buttock Augmentation procedure which is less invasive than the Buttock Implants. This procedure consists on a Liposuction that removes fat from at least two areas of your body, combined with fat injecting in the buttocks.
The advantage of this procedure is the fact that results look more natural. In addition, the surgery is faster, less scarring and also post-operative is less complicated and shorter. Another advantage is the fact of also undergoing a Liposuction. If the patient also has fat around the bellies, for example, this procedure may solve two problems at once.
The Buttock Fat Injections can be placed wherever it is needed, even out smaller areas. This is an advantage, because the Buttock Implant can only placed in the upper part of the buttocks. Usually, liposuctioned areas are around the back – the buttocks, the stomach and the thighs. [ Top ]
The Buttock Fat Injection procedure increases size and shape of the buttock. It can be done in both men and women and is recommended for people who are unsatisfied with their buttock area and would like to improve it. When exercising and diet doesn’t provide results desired, it might be achieved through surgery. Also, people might be motivated by loss of buttock shape due to weight loss, aging or hormonal changes.
Some people are not happy with their original buttock, which may vary due to ethnic origin. In these cases, a Buttock Fat Injection is an option, providing to the patient a more attractive buttock, as a personal opinion.
Prior to surgery, it is important to be healthy and avoid taking medications that could increase bleeding, such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements. For a Buttock Fat Injection, it can be chosen between epidural and general anesthesia. In case of general Anesthesia, you will sleep through the entire operation. First, a Liposuction is performed, after that fat is suctioned, purified and injected on the buttocks.
During a Liposuction procedure, small and discrete incisions are made and a sterile medical solution is infused in the patient, in order to reduce bleeding and trauma.
The Liposuction technique used is Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL). Under a SAL, a cannula – thin tube, is inserted and in a back and forth motion, fat is loosen.
Once the fat is ready to be removed, it is suctioned through a surgical vacuum or syringe which is attached to the cannula.
After suction, fat is processed and purified in order do separate the best fat cells for injection. Purified fat is then injected at different areas of gluteal region in order to ensure the highest absorption. A considerable number of fat injections are made until the desired result is achieved. Right after the procedure, a compression garment will be applied, protecting the area and also helping to control bruising and swelling. The garment is really useful to ensure the new contours.
Some discomfort is expected in the first days, and can be relieved through medication. After swelling improvement, a reduction of about 30% of gluteal volume is expected. On average, final results can be seen between 2 to 6 months following surgery.
The compression garment is removed about 2 weeks after the procedure. During this time, the patient should not sit directly on the buttocks. The patient usually can go back to work about 2 weeks following the procedure, but should avoid sitting down for too long.

In some cases, another surgery might be necessary, in order to achieve better results. In about 30% of Buttock Fat Injections patients, part of fat injected is reabsorbed by the body. In these situations, a second Fat Injection procedure is needed.
Through Buttock Fat Injections, you cannot achieve the same volume as with the Buttock Implants.
In case the patient has not enough fat to be liposuctioned, a Buttock Augmentation with Buttock Implants should be considered.
